Starting point
Leave requests and approvals lived in Idenfit, while leave quotas and absence records were in SAP. Approved leave had to be keyed into SAP by hand, and the remaining balance had to be updated in Idenfit separately.
PROJECT STORY

WORKFLOW
The steps show the order in which the work runs, from source to result.
The service reads leave requests from Idenfit and processes only approved leave not yet written to SAP. A custom absence function in SAP is called through a SOAP service with the staff number, leave type code, start date and end date. Because the leave type code is passed through unchanged, the leave type codes are kept identical in both systems.
When the SAP call succeeds, the returned document number is written to a local control table together with the leave ID. This table ensures that the same leave is never sent to SAP twice. If a leave loses its approval in Idenfit, it is deleted from SAP using the stored document number.
After every successful create or delete, the annual, training and excused-leave balances returned by SAP are written to Idenfit. Configuration decides which balance goes to which Idenfit leave type.
The service starts automatically as a Windows service and runs at short intervals; several company accounts can be configured. Leave that could not be written to SAP does not enter the control table, so it is retried in the next cycle. Daily logs are kept, and owners are emailed when the service stops.
